A porch fire in Scarborough on Tuesday evening has resulted in damage to two homes and displacement of six residents.
According to Toronto Fire officials, the incident occurred at Haddon and Edgely avenues just after 5:30 p.m. The fire originated on the rear porch of one home and quickly spread to a neighboring residence.
Both houses sustained significant damage and are currently uninhabitable. The six affected residents, four from one home and two from the other, have been displaced. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as all occupants were able to evacuate safely.
Toronto Fire Acting Platoon Chief Steve Primeau commended the working smoke detectors in both homes, which alerted the homeowners to the fire promptly.
An investigation by the Toronto Fire team is scheduled for the morning to determine the cause of the fire.
