Over a hundred technicians and professionals previously not affiliated with a union at Santé Québec’s head office have recently become members of the APTS.
These workers, primarily involved in program development at Santé Québec, are now officially represented by the Alliance du personnel professionnel et technique de la santé et des services sociaux (APTS) following approval from the Administrative Labour Tribunal.
According to APTS president Robert Comeau in a recent interview, the newly unionized employees are engaged in various critical areas such as homelessness, oral health, community support, and youth services.
While there have been discussions about potentially dismantling Santé Québec, Comeau believes it’s not the right time for major restructuring within the healthcare system.
