A young man from Quebec City, aged 24, has been accused of planning an attack on behalf of the Islamic State. It is alleged that he engaged in online communication with members of the terrorist organization and sought information to create a chemical weapon that could potentially harm Canadians.
The Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET), led by the RCMP, is conducting an investigation into this matter to address national security concerns.
Louay Angoud faces charges related to terrorism, including involvement with a terrorist group. He is set to make an appearance at the Montreal courthouse on Thursday, although the accusations against him have yet to be proven in court.
If convicted, Angoud could face a prison sentence ranging from 10 years to life.
