A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday morning on Highway 97 near Campbell Road in West Kelowna, resulting in the loss of two lives.
At approximately 4 a.m., a Toyota heading eastbound collided with a Jeep traveling westbound, according to investigators.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist the four individuals involved in the collision. Tragically, two people lost their lives at the scene, while the other two were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The authorities are actively investigating the crash, with police suspecting alcohol to be a factor in the incident. The BC Coroners Service is collaborating with law enforcement to further examine the details of the accident.
BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is appealing for witnesses who may have observed the driving behaviors of both vehicles leading up to the collision.
