Peel Regional Police have announced that the charges against a Mississauga woman involved in a stabbing incident have been elevated.
On the evening of September 6, authorities received reports of a stabbing near Dixie Road and Dundas Street East. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a severe stab wound. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Following the incident, 42-year-old Lorena Sanchez was apprehended and initially charged with attempted murder. She was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries on September 10, prompting the involvement of the homicide unit in the case. Sanchez appeared in court on September 18, where her charges were increased to second-degree murder.
