The Hope RCMP is currently investigating a tragic incident where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck along Highway 3 near Highway 5.
On Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m., the RCMP received reports of a pedestrian walking along the slow lane of the highway. Shortly after, a collision involving the pedestrian and a pickup truck occurred.
Tragically, the pedestrian was found at the scene and pronounced deceased. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was called in to examine the area, leading to the closure of Highway 3 eastbound for several hours.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the authorities during the investigation.
The RCMP has confirmed that the investigation into this heartbreaking incident is ongoing.
