Guerrero Jr. emphasized that his comments were misunderstood and not reflective of his true intentions.
During the interview, Guerrero Jr. discussed seeking solace in conversations with his Hall of Fame father during challenging times, including struggles on the field and coping with a back injury. However, a clip from the interview went viral, causing a social media backlash, particularly over Guerrero Jr.’s remarks about his lucrative contract.
Clarifying his stance, Guerrero Jr. stated, “I regret my comments and want to apologize to my fans and teammates for any confusion caused. I am committed to working hard to fulfill the expectations of my contract.”
Acknowledging his disappointing performance this year, Guerrero Jr. shared his disappointment in not meeting team goals and sought guidance from his father, who advised him to make amends with his fans.
After a stellar post-season in 2025, where Guerrero Jr. played a pivotal role in the Blue Jays’ run to Game 7 of the World Series, his current season has seen a decline in performance. With just nine home runs and 56 RBIs, Guerrero Jr. has struggled to replicate last year’s success.
The Blue Jays’ overall performance has also been underwhelming, as they were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Friday, adding to the team’s frustrations.
