A state-of-the-art indoor aquatic center opened its doors in Pierrefonds-Roxboro, marking an exciting new addition to the community.
This cutting-edge facility is the result of a significant investment of $66 million from the City of Montreal, complemented by a $7.5 million contribution from the Government of Quebec. Designed to cater to a wide range of aquatic activities, the complex is set to become a hub of recreation for residents.
Notably, Montreal residents will have access to the facility free of charge, emphasizing the city’s commitment to making sports and leisure opportunities accessible to all.
Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada underlined the importance of the project, stating, “Montreal must be a city where sport is accessible to all. Families in the West Island have eagerly awaited this complex, providing them with a space to engage in swimming, physical activity, and quality time together throughout the year. This investment enhances the overall quality of life in our neighborhoods.”
The aquatic complex boasts impressive features, including a 25-meter swimming pool with eight lanes, diving boards ranging from one to three meters, a recreational pool with a wading area, slides, and water games, as well as a hammam, multipurpose room, and comfortable lounges.
Upon its official opening this fall, locals will have the opportunity to partake in an inaugural public swim. Subsequent to the opening, a diverse lineup of activities will be introduced gradually, starting in the winter of 2027.
Expressing pride in the completion of the project, Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough mayor Dimitrios Jim Beis remarked, “This sports facility is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to investing in a legacy that will benefit children, families, and future generations.”
