A tragic incident occurred outside Tsawwassen Mills Mall on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving two others hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle, as reported by the Delta Police Department (DPD).
While the exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear, initial information suggests that the driver of the vehicle may have experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision.
Despite a Truth and Reconciliation Walk happening at Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) at the time, authorities have confirmed that the collision was not related to the event and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The DPD responded to the scene at TFN, where emergency services were attending to the four pedestrians who were hit by the vehicle. The police are actively investigating the incident.
