Four individuals from different parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have been charged following a Peel Regional Police inquiry into a fraudulent vehicle registration operation that authorities believe is tied to over $100,000 in overdue toll charges on the 407 ETR highway.
As part of the investigation, known as Project Octane, authorities seized ten stolen vehicles that had been re-registered with an estimated combined worth of $750,000.
Launched in May 2026, the investigation zeroed in on the suspected use of forged documents at various ServiceOntario branches by multiple individuals.
Peel Regional Police collaborated with the Ministry of Transportation and 407 ETR to examine claims concerning vehicle registrations, license plates, and the submission of questionable documents during transactions at ServiceOntario locations.
The probe uncovered that the license plates were linked to fictitious businesses, enabling the plate users to evade payment for tolls and parking charges, amassing over $100,000 in outstanding 407 ETR fees.
Four individuals have been taken into custody and are now facing various charges:
Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing, urging anyone with additional information to reach out to the Commercial Auto Crime Bureau.
