Lions Bay Search and Rescue (SAR) came to the aid of a hiker in need on Mount Brunswick over the weekend.
On their descent from the mountain, two young girls encountered a mishap as one of them slipped on unsteady rocks, resulting in an ankle injury.
Luckily, the pair was well-prepared, carrying a first aid kit that included an instant ice pack and tensor bandages. They managed to stabilize the injured ankle while awaiting the arrival of SAR.
Due to the severity of the injury and the challenging terrain, SAR called upon North Shore Rescue for a helicopter extraction to safely transport the hikers off the mountain.
The duo was successfully airlifted from the scene by Talon helicopters, ensuring their swift and secure descent.
