The Toronto mayoral competition is intensifying as candidate Brad Bradford gains backing from three additional Liberal MPs.
This past weekend, Vince Gasparro, Leslie Church, and Ali Ehsassi joined four other Liberal MPs in throwing their support behind Bradford for mayor.
Gasparro and Church made appearances with Bradford in a campaign video that was posted on social media on Sunday.
Gasparro, the MP for Eglington-Lawrence, remarked, “I’ve known Brad since 2018, when I was Principal Secretary to Mayor John Tory. I saw firsthand his dedication to boosting our economy, enhancing public safety, and improving affordability.”
Representing Toronto-St. Paul’s, Church commended Bradford as “someone who advocates for midtown Toronto and has been present every step of the way.”
“As a parent, I aspire for a vibrant city for all our children in the future, with accessible housing, transportation, and child care,” she added. “I believe Brad shares these same priorities, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse him as our next mayor.”
Willowdale MP Ehsassi also featured in a second campaign video with Bradford, shared on social media on Monday afternoon.
“Brad Bradford is a dedicated, diligent leader with a proven track record of achievements for the people of this city,” Ehsassi stated. “From North York to the waterfront, he possesses the vision and drive to help Toronto fulfill its full potential, and I am honored to support him.”
These three Toronto MPs now join four other Liberal MPs who have already expressed their support for Bradford. This group includes Ajax MP and former Toronto Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie, Humber River-Black Creek MP Judy Sgro, Etobicoke-Lakeshore MP James Maloney, and Etobicoke Centre MP Yvan Baker.
Bradford has also garnered endorsements from outgoing Conservative MP Scott Aitchison, Ontario Liberal MPP Stephanie Smyth, and York Centre City Councillor James Pasternak.
“Leslie, Vince, and Ali are dedicated to advocating for Toronto in Ottawa every day, and they understand the city’s needs from its future mayor: a collaborator who is present, ensures the essentials are addressed, and drives projects forward,” Bradford emphasized.
“I appreciate their endorsement. Toronto is at a standstill, and the residents of this city recognize it,” he continued. “We stand on the brink of change. Change is achievable. To transform the city, we must alter the mayor.”
