A 13-year-old boy has been taken into custody after making threatening comments online regarding a potential shooting at a high school in Guelph.
The school’s principal promptly alerted the Guelph police about the concerning remarks shared in an online chat targeting specific students and the broader school community.
Following the report, law enforcement swiftly arrested the boy at his residence the same evening. He has since been charged in connection with the incident.
The Guelph Police Service emphasized the gravity of such threats, acknowledging the impact on students, staff, and families. They underscored their commitment to collaborating with school authorities to ensure the safety of all and pursue legal action against those responsible for such actions.
The teenager now faces three charges of uttering threats and remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
