Maple Ridge Issues Gas Leak Alert, Evacuates Buildings on 224 Street
Maple Ridge officials issued a public warning regarding a gas leak that prompted the closure of a section of 224 Street between 117 Avenue and Callaghan Avenue on Wednesday at noon. The road closure was necessary to allow FortisBC crews to address the situation.
As a precaution, three nearby apartment buildings were evacuated, and Emergency Support Services have been made available to those affected.
Authorities in Maple Ridge are urging the public to steer clear of the area, seek alternate routes, and comply with instructions from fire and traffic control personnel.
