A jewelry store robbery led to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy and another suspect in Montreal’s Anjou borough on Thursday. The incident unfolded with a police chase and a hit-and-run, creating a dramatic scene in the bustling city.

The Montreal police (SPVM) was alerted to the robbery at a jewelry store in the Place Versailles shopping mall following a 911 call around 2:30 p.m. It was reported that multiple suspects were involved in the heist, escaping in a vehicle. The chase ended in a collision at the intersection of Galeries d’Anjou Boulevard and Jarry Street. The suspects then ditched the vehicle on Neuville Avenue and fled on foot, evading the authorities.

SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture shared that a bag, believed to have been abandoned by the suspects, was recovered by the police. The origin of the stolen jewelry remains a mystery at this point in the investigation.

Following the incident, two suspects, including a 14-year-old boy, were apprehended by the authorities. The identity of the other arrested individual has not been disclosed by the police.
