Over the Thanksgiving weekend, a distressing incident occurred at Canada’s leading food rescue organization, impacting their crucial operations.
Second Harvest, a prominent charity, faced a setback when seven of their delivery trucks were vandalized at their Etobicoke location. The vandalism left these vehicles unusable during the holiday weekend, disrupting the charity’s efforts to provide food support to communities in need.
The non-profit organization expressed the significant challenge this incident posed to their food rescue and distribution activities, especially during a critical time when many communities depended on their services.
Authorities suspect that the perpetrators gained entry by cutting through a chain link fence surrounding the property before damaging the vehicles and stealing catalytic converters from all seven trucks.
A police investigation is currently underway to address this unfortunate act of vandalism.
