Last week, a local business in Castlegar fell victim to a break-in and theft, prompting an investigation by the RCMP.
The incident took place on Oct. 7, shortly after midnight, at a location on Columbia Avenue close to 15th Street. The thieves made off with multiple sets of tires and rims, amounting to a value exceeding $10,000 as confirmed by the authorities.
Among the stolen items were distinctive satin black 18-inch Toyota alloy rims, Michelin X-Ice Snow tires (235/60R18), and Toyo Observe GSi6 LS tires (235/60R18).
According to law enforcement, surveillance footage captured two vehicles that are suspected to be linked to the crime. The first vehicle is an older light-colored RV with blue pinstriping, notable for carrying bicycles on its rear door and a red bag or object on its roof. The second vehicle is described as a small, light-colored SUV.
The RCMP is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying these suspect vehicles. Cpl. Brett Urano, the Media Relations Officer for the Castlegar RCMP, urged anyone who witnessed these vehicles in the area during the early hours of Oct. 7 or possesses dash camera footage to come forward and contact the police.
“Even seemingly small pieces of information could prove crucial in the investigation,” Cpl. Urano emphasized.
