A recent survey reveals that Bonnie Crombie is currently leading the race for Mississauga mayor, with Alvin Tedjo showing significant voter support growth. The poll conducted by Liaison Strategies shows that 35% of decided and leaning voters are in favor of Crombie, followed closely by Tedjo at 31% and Carolyn Parrish at 28%.
Dipika Damerla trails in fourth place at 4%, while 2% of respondents opted for another candidate. David Valentin, Principal at Liaison Strategies, pointed out that both Crombie and Tedjo have seen a five-point increase since the last release on October 5. While Parrish’s support dipped by one point, Damerla experienced a notable decline from 11% to 4%.
Despite Crombie maintaining a four-point lead over Tedjo, the latter has surpassed the incumbent, indicating a tight competition between the two challengers. Tedjo’s rise in popularity has been particularly significant, climbing from 12% in August to 31% presently.
The survey also reflects a challenging sentiment among Mississauga voters, with 46% believing the city is heading in the wrong direction, compared to 30% who think otherwise, and 24% undecided.
The poll was conducted by reaching 1,000 Mississauga residents on October 19-20 through Interactive Voice Recording technology. The results were adjusted for demographics and have a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points. For a detailed breakdown of the survey findings, click here.
