A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon in Montreal as a fire claimed the life of a man in his 60s.
The devastating blaze erupted at approximately 12:15 p.m. within an apartment located on Grand Blvd., close to Saint-Jacques Street, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce area.
Upon the arrival of the firefighters, the situation was swiftly brought under control, and the lone resident of the apartment was safely evacuated.
The man was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital by Urgences-santé paramedics, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
While the fire is not suspected to be a result of criminal activity, the specific causes and circumstances remain unclear. The Montreal Police Service’s arson unit has taken over the investigation, as mentioned by spokesperson Manuel Couture.
