Early Morning Earthquake Shakes Southern Vancouver Island
Residents of southern Vancouver Island were startled by a gentle earthquake on Tuesday morning. According to Earthquakes Canada, the magnitude-3.1 quake occurred about 37 kilometers north of Victoria around 5:30 a.m. Reports from 96 individuals indicated that the quake was lightly or weakly felt along the Saanich Peninsula, though no damages were reported, as confirmed by Emergency Info BC.
This recent tremor marks the second recorded earthquake in British Columbia this month, following a magnitude-3.3 event near Squamish.
