Film Crew Arrested During Music Video Shoot Involving Fake Gun in New Westminster

Police Respond to Fake Gun Scare During Music Video Shoot

A team of New Westminster police officers rushed to a city parkade following reports of a man brandishing a handgun on Monday.

According to the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD), an officer on patrol at 4 p.m. observed a group of men on the second level of the Front Street parkade, with one individual holding what appeared to be a gun.

The NWPD revealed that the incident prompted a sizable police deployment in and around the parkade.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of the suspected weapon, which turned out to be a replica upon closer examination.

Surprisingly, officers discovered that the group was actually shooting a music video at the time.

Characterizing the event as “highly irresponsible,” the NWPD emphasized the importance of providing clearer indications during such video shoots to prevent misunderstandings.

Authorities are stressing the risks associated with replica firearms and urging the public to be cautious.

The NWPD highlighted that any reports involving firearms are treated seriously until proven otherwise through a thorough investigation.
