“Montreal Mother Demands Justice After Teen Brutally Stabbed and Punched in Shocking Attack”

A 14-year-old girl was brutally attacked outside her high school in Montreal’s NDG, leaving the community in shock. The mother of the victim, speaking out about the violent incident, shared harrowing details of the assault that left her daughter injured and traumatized.

The mother, identified as Ping, recounted how her daughter was targeted in a sudden and vicious knife attack as she arrived at school. The assailant, a male teenager who had left the school the previous summer, unexpectedly lunged at her, punching and stabbing her repeatedly. Fortunately, the girl’s backpack shielded her from more serious bodily harm, but she was left with a cut on her face. In the midst of the horrifying assault, she pleaded for mercy, repeatedly saying, “I’m sorry,” while trying to protect herself.

The 17-year-old perpetrator was swiftly apprehended on the day of the attack at a different school in the Sud-Ouest borough. He now faces charges of attempted murder and weapon possession, undergoing psychiatric evaluation while awaiting his next court appearance on November 3. Due to his status as a minor, his identity remains undisclosed.

Standing at the Filipino Associations of Montreal and Suburbs (FAMAS) building on Van Horne Ave, the mother, of Filipino descent, updated the public on her daughter’s condition with the support of the Center for Research-Action on Race Relations (CRARR). Various Filipino community organizations and women’s groups joined her in denouncing the assault and advocating for enhanced measures to safeguard young women from gender-based violence.

The disturbing attack took place on October 7 on Terrebonne St. near École secondaire Saint-Luc, causing severe injuries to the girl’s upper body, particularly around one eye. Despite the deep cuts and the shock of the incident, she sought refuge inside the school while the attacker fled. Fortunately, her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and she received medical attention promptly.

This incident has sparked deep concern and unease within both the local and Filipino communities, prompting discussions on youth safety and gender-based violence in Montreal. School authorities have offered support services to students in the aftermath of the traumatic event.
