City Slaps Heavy Fines on Duo Caught on Camera Tainting Coquitlam Creek

Two individuals have been penalized for dumping buckets of paint into Noons Creek. The City of Coquitlam took action after a resident captured video footage of the incident, which occurred along the waterway that runs through Port Moody and Coquitlam, housing a fish hatchery.

The video, widely shared on social media, enabled the City’s team to identify the culprits, leading to fines for their actions. Jaime Boan, the general manager of engineering and public works, expressed relief that no paint contamination was found in the fish habitat after the buckets were removed.

The Coquitlam RCMP was notified of the situation a day after the occurrence. Boan reiterated that residents and community members can dispose of paint properly at the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre on 995 United Boulevard.
