Motorists in Mississauga are facing delays as the Highway 401 express lanes have been shut down in both directions following a two-vehicle crash.
The closure is impacting the flow of traffic on the eastbound lanes from east of Winston Churchill to the Mavis area, and on the westbound lanes from west of Hurontario to near Winston Churchill.
Reports from CityNews traffic spotters indicate that a tractor-trailer veered off course and collided with the concrete median on the eastbound side.
Authorities from the Ontario Provincial Police are working to clear debris scattered across both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Fortunately, only one individual sustained minor injuries in the incident and has been taken to the hospital, as confirmed by the police.
The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) has warned that the closure is expected to last for a considerable period.
Despite the express lanes being closed, the collector lanes remain accessible in both directions.
