Elderly Woman Fighting for Life After Alleged Hit-and-Run Involving STM Bus in Montreal North

An elderly woman in her 80s is currently in critical condition following a collision with a bus in Montreal North early on a Friday morning.

According to a Montreal Police spokesperson, a distress call was received at 6:55 a.m. alerting authorities to a woman found injured at the intersection of Pie-IX Blvd. and d’Amiens Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the woman was conscious and promptly transferred her to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

After examining surveillance footage, police have concluded that the incident likely involved a hit-and-run by a Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus. The bus was reportedly executing a left turn onto Pie-IX Blvd. when the collision occurred.

Authorities are actively searching for the bus and its driver, although no arrests have been made thus far. The Montreal Police are working closely with the STM to conduct a thorough investigation.

In response, the STM stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement to unravel the details of the incident and to understand the surrounding circumstances. The agency reassured that the bus driver is cooperating with the investigation and had no intention of leaving the scene. They emphasized their commitment to fully supporting the ongoing police inquiry.
