Tragic Accident Claims Worker’s Life at British Columbia Copper Mine
Taseko Mines Limited has confirmed the devastating news of a recent accident resulting in the loss of a worker’s life at its copper mine located northeast of Williams Lake, British Columbia.
The incident took place within an active mining area at the Gibraltar mine and was discovered around 5 p.m. on a Friday evening. Following the tragic event, the mining operations have been temporarily halted as the accident site has been secured for investigation purposes.
Although specific details regarding the cause of the worker’s death have not been disclosed in the company’s statement, it assures full cooperation with the ongoing investigation. Additionally, the provincial Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals has been informed about the unfortunate incident.
This unfortunate occurrence marks the second fatality at a mine in British Columbia within a short span of time. Just recently, a 39-year-old man was reported missing at Elk Valley Resources’ coal mine in Sparwood, British Columbia, and was later discovered deceased the following day.
