Vancouver soccer fans won’t need to leave town this weekend as the Whitecaps head to San Diego for the MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Final. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be hosting a special viewing party at BC Place for Saturday’s crucial game, with all proceeds benefiting the Whitecaps FC Foundation.
Attendees can catch the action live on the venue’s massive screen, and the first 15,000 fans through the doors will receive free rally towels courtesy of the club. In a rematch of their previous encounters, the Whitecaps will take on San Diego FC, who claimed the top spot in the Western Conference in their debut season. The Whitecaps faced a 5-3 defeat at home in June but managed a 1-1 draw on the road last July.
The winner of Saturday’s match will advance to the MLS Cup Final, where they will face off against the victor of the Inter Miami CF versus New York City FC showdown on December 6. The hosting rights for the final will be determined by the team with the superior regular-season points total.
Should Inter Miami emerge victorious, Florida will be the final’s host location. However, if NYCFC progresses and the Whitecaps secure a win on Saturday, Vancouver could potentially host the final for the first time in history.
