A recent development in a homicide case in Bolton and an attempted murder in Vaughan has unfolded as a third suspect has been charged in connection to the incidents.
Back in November 2020, York Regional Police responded to a shooting on Steeles Avenue West in Vaughan. Following the incident, one victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Moving ahead to January 18, 2021, Caledon OPP officers received a distress call from a residence on Harvest Moon Drive in Bolton. Two individuals broke into the home and opened fire, injuring two occupants. Sadly, one of the victims, 65-year-old Giovanni Costa of Bolton, did not survive the attack.
Recently, Elias Akhi, aged 32 and hailing from London, was taken into custody. He faces charges including conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree murder, and attempt murder.
The two other suspects, Neheniah Tirfe, 25, from Toronto, and Christopher Brown, 28, from Barrie, have already been apprehended.
Meanwhile, a fourth suspect, Waheed Barakziye, 48, from London, is currently being sought with a Canada-wide warrant. He is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. Barakziye is known to frequent London and the Greater Toronto Area.
Authorities advise the public not to approach Barakziye if spotted but to contact law enforcement immediately.
