A tragic incident unfolded in Sainte-Julienne, Lanaudière region, as a driver in his 60s lost his life following a collision on Sunday.
Authorities are looking into the possibility that the driver might have experienced a medical emergency while behind the wheel.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers from the Montcalm MRC rushed to Route 337 after receiving reports of a collision involving two vehicles around 2 p.m.
According to Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the SQ, the driver of the southbound vehicle reportedly veered out of control, crossing into the oncoming lane, resulting in a collision with a pickup truck.
Medical personnel attempted resuscitation on the driver at the scene before he was rushed to the hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced deceased.
Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact factors that led to this tragic event. Preliminary inquiries suggest that a medical emergency may have been a contributing factor, Savoie mentioned.
