Early Saturday morning at Danforth GO station, a civilian was shot by a Toronto Police officer following reports of a person with a gun in the Main Street and Stephenson Avenue area.
Authorities discovered a man with a firearm and confirmed that he was shot by the police. The injured individual was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), an independent government agency in Ontario, has initiated an investigation into the incident, as per their mandate to examine situations involving police conduct leading to severe outcomes like death, serious injury, sexual assault, or use of firearms.
