A 66-year-old man is currently in critical condition after being discovered unconscious in his apartment during a fire that broke out on Friday morning in Montreal.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., the Montreal police (SPVM) responded to a call for assistance from the Montreal fire department at a residential building consisting of 16 units located on Pierrefonds Blvd near Blvd. des Sources in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough.
All residents were successfully evacuated from the building, and the firefighters managed to bring the fire, primarily contained within one apartment, under control.
The man was found unresponsive and swiftly transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police have indicated that an update on his condition is currently pending.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
Arson investigators from the police department’s arson unit have cordoned off the area and are preparing to conduct a thorough investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
