A man is in the hospital with severe injuries after a house fire broke out in Ajax early in the morning.
Emergency responders rushed to Angier Crescent on Dec. 11 around 6:10 a.m. when the fire was reported at a residence. Upon arrival, thick smoke was visible rising from the house, but firefighters were already on site working swiftly to put out the flames.
The injured man was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been tasked with probing the origins of the fire.
Due to safety concerns, authorities have labeled the home as unsafe, hampering a thorough search operation.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with knowledge about the incident to step forward.
