“$25K Up for Grabs: Police Reveal Suspect in Deadly 2023 Pickering Casino Shooting”

The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is seeking information on a shooting that tragically took the life of a security guard at Pickering Casino Resort two years ago. They are now offering a $25,000 reward for any valuable leads in the case.

On October 9, 2023, Michael Ferdinand, 34, was shot and killed while on duty at the casino, where he was ensuring the safety of the patrons. Detective Sergeant Brad Corner described the incident as a senseless act of violence during a press conference held in November 2023.

Authorities are searching for Tyjae Nosworthy-Smith, the male suspect who was 17 at the time of the crime. He is currently 20 years old and wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder. Nosworthy-Smith, who had no fixed address at the time of the shooting, is known to have connections to Toronto and Brampton.
