Proanima Takes Over Animal Services in Montreal
Starting January 1, Proanima is set to become the primary organization overseeing animal services in all 19 boroughs of Montreal, signaling a significant change in how the city prioritizes animal welfare.
The new Proanima animal services center, located at 9350 boulevard Pie-IX in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, will cater to residents throughout the city.
With over a decade of experience and a track record of caring for more than 60,000 animals since 2012, Proanima currently serves 14 municipalities in the South Shore and Montérégie regions.
Through its collaboration with the City of Montreal, Proanima aims to provide a comprehensive range of animal services under one roof. These services encompass sheltering and adoption, veterinary care, sterilization, microchipping, lost-and-found assistance, community cat programs, wildlife support, and group training classes for dogs.
Emphasizing prevention and education, Proanima’s services are designed to meet the needs of low-income individuals and those facing vulnerable circumstances.
As Proanima finalizes its preparations, the organization is actively engaging with municipal teams, veterinarians, local groups, and citizens to ensure a smooth transition.
