A severe collision on the Concorde Bridge early Tuesday morning has prompted authorities to close off traffic in both directions, causing disruptions in Ville-Marie. Montreal police responded to the incident at approximately 6:40 a.m. when a vehicle was discovered crashed on the bridge with the driver trapped inside.
The driver sustained upper-body injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Though initially in critical condition, the individual has since stabilized. Police report that the vehicle, heading northbound towards Montreal, collided with a safety barrier at the center of the bridge, with the cause still under investigation. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
As collision investigators assess the scene, the Concorde Bridge remains shut down in both directions. Commuters are urged to steer clear of the area and seek alternative routes.
