“Operation Sticky Fingers: 5 Arrested in $2 Million Theft Ring at Ajax Amazon Hub”

Five individuals, including a pair of workers from the online retail giant Amazon, have recently been accused of stealing goods amounting to over $2 million from an Amazon warehouse in Ajax.

The investigation was initiated by Durham police following a report from Amazon, claiming that two of their employees had been involved in the theft of merchandise over a span of two years.

On Christmas Day, the two employees were apprehended, leading to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Scarborough. Subsequently, three more suspects were taken into custody, with law enforcement seizing more than $250,000 worth of premium electronics and $50,000 in cash.

In a separate operation on Tuesday, a storage locker in Newmarket was searched, uncovering an additional $130,000 worth of stolen electronics and goods.

Mehul Baldevbhai Patel, 36, from Newmarket, faces charges including fraud, theft, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Ashishkumar Savani, 31, residing in Scarborough, has been charged with fraud, theft, and trafficking in unlawfully obtained property.

Bansari Savani, 28, also from Scarborough, is accused of possessing and trafficking property obtained through illegal means.

Yash Dhameliya, 29, and Janviben Dhameliya, 28, both residents of Scarborough, have been charged with possessing and trafficking unlawfully obtained property.

All individuals have been released on an undertaking.
