REM Transit Shutdown: Plan Your Weekend Travel Accordingly!

The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) has announced that service will be temporarily halted this weekend to facilitate testing on the upcoming A3 branch, designed to connect Montreal’s West Island.

During the closure on Saturday and Sunday, shuttle buses will be available to assist commuters affected by the REM shutdown.

According to REM’s website, this interruption is necessary for conducting final tests in preparation for the A3 branch’s launch, which will extend to the Anse-à-l’Orme station in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. The new section of the REM network is expected to be operational by spring 2026.

In addition, REM will be closing its entire network early on January 9, 2026, at 9 p.m. for further testing related to the A3 branch.
