Authorities Seize Suspected Cocaine in Major Drug Bust at Ontario Port
A significant amount of suspected cocaine was confiscated by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) during a recent operation at a port in southwestern Ontario.
The incident occurred on Aug. 13 when a commercial truck was flagged for further inspection at the Blue Water Bridge port in Point Edward, Ont. Border services officers uncovered the illicit drugs during the examination and promptly confiscated them.
Following the discovery, the driver was taken into custody by the CBSA and subsequently charged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) with offenses related to drug trafficking.
This seizure follows a recent major drug bust on July 23, where law enforcement agencies confiscated 1.7 tonnes of illegal substances in southern Ontario, marking one of the largest drug seizures in the region.
To date, the CBSA has intercepted over 4,500 kilograms of cocaine and crack during the 2025-26 fiscal year.
