Montreal Assault Victim Chooses Not to Press Charges, Police Confirm

Montreal police have announced that no charges will be brought in connection with an assault that took place on Monday night in Côte-des-Neiges. The incident occurred when a group of suspects targeted a man, but the victim chose not to pursue legal action.

The police received a call at 10:25 p.m. reporting an assault on Dupuis Avenue and Côte-des-Neiges Road. The victim, a 34-year-old man, was approached by the suspects who initially asked for the time. However, the situation quickly turned violent when they tried to steal his phone, resulting in a physical altercation.

A video circulating on social media captures the disturbing scene where the suspects repeatedly hit the man before fleeing with his phone. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and he did not require hospitalization.

Although Montreal police reviewed the video evidence of the assault, the SPVM has decided not to pursue further investigation as the victim opted not to press charges. This decision was confirmed by Jean-Pierre Brabant, a media relations officer and spokesperson for the Montreal police force.
