“Welcome to the World! Quebec City Rings in 2026 with the Birth of the Province’s First Newborn”

The new year in Quebec welcomed its first babies of 2026 at hospitals in Quebec City and Montreal. At the CHUL hospital of CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Lessy-Ann made her grand entrance at 12:02 a.m., weighing 3.97 kilograms and measuring 51.5 centimeters. Proud parents Alyson Brown-Tremblay and Stéphanie Lévesque are overjoyed, and both mother and baby are reported to be in good health.

Meanwhile, over at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) in Montreal, another bundle of joy arrived at 12:46 a.m. Sophia, a beautiful baby girl weighing 3.6 kilograms, was welcomed by her parents, Miriam Azer and Maged Youssef, from Vaudreuil. The family is doing well, and the MUHC extended their best wishes for happiness to the new parents.

It’s a heartwarming start to the new year as these families celebrate the arrival of their precious little ones in Quebec.
