A beloved buffet eatery in Toronto’s Yonge and Eglinton area, Mandarin Restaurant, is bidding farewell after serving the community for over three decades. The iconic location, a staple since 1991, will permanently close its doors on January 18 due to ongoing neighborhood redevelopment.
Mandarin Restaurant shared the news with its loyal customers, expressing gratitude for the countless celebrations and cherished memories created within its walls. As the Yonge–Eglinton corridor undergoes transformation with construction and revitalization projects, the restaurant’s lease expiration signals the end of an era.
With a heartfelt message urging patrons to relish one final feast at Mandarin Yonge, the restaurant plans to host a special “all-you-can-enjoy celebration” before its closure date. This closure signifies a significant shift in the neighborhood, marked by the continuous development of high-rise buildings, transit improvements, and changing commercial landscapes.
While Mandarin’s departure from its long-standing location is imminent, there is no confirmation of a new midtown establishment in the works. Until January 18, customers can continue to savor Mandarin’s offerings and make reservations to bid farewell to this cherished establishment.
