Paramedics rushed a child to the hospital in critical condition following a house fire in Markham on Friday afternoon, as confirmed by York Regional Police.
The incident occurred at a residence on Spragg Circle near Ninth Line and 16th Avenue around noon, prompting an emergency response.
Although details about the fire remain unclear, firefighters discovered a young child inside the home during their operation. The child was reported to have sustained severe injuries.
While there were other individuals present in the house at the time, they managed to escape unharmed.
The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal has been involved in the investigation process, and road closures are currently in effect in the vicinity.
