Family Loses Home in Devastating Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Blaze

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a family in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood faced a harrowing ordeal as a fire engulfed their home, forcing them to evacuate.

The Montreal Fire Department received a distress call at 1:20 a.m. reporting a fire at a residential building near the intersection of Beaubien Street and Rodolphe-Mathieu Avenue. Swiftly, approximately 20 firefighting vehicles rushed to the scene, finally gaining control of the blaze by 3:30 a.m.

Tragically, the fire originated in the attic, resulting in significant damage to the family’s residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and other residents were able to remain safely in their homes without evacuation.

Following the incident, the displaced family found refuge with the Red Cross, who provided them with necessary support and accommodation during this challenging time.

The Montreal Fire Department is actively investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire, aiming to shed light on the events that led to this distressing incident.
