A fire believed to have been deliberately set caused significant damage to a two-story home in the Chomedey neighborhood of Laval early Sunday morning, necessitating a family of six to evacuate and resulting in three individuals suffering from smoke inhalation.
The incident occurred on Edmond-Rostand Street just before 5 a.m., prompting emergency responders to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames engulfing both levels of the residence.
Approximately 30 firefighters, along with assistance from Laval police and Urgence-Santé, worked together to bring the blaze under control by around 7 a.m.
Following the evacuation, two adults and four children were safely relocated.
Authorities in Laval have launched an investigation into the suspected arson incident.
