Tragic Monday: Woman Killed in Morning Crash in Maple Ridge, Officials Confirm

Tragedy struck on Monday as a woman lost her life in a vehicle collision near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street.

Authorities from Ridge Meadows RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) swiftly responded to the incident at 5:30 a.m. Two ambulances arrived at the scene, where paramedics provided immediate medical assistance to the pedestrian. Despite their efforts, the woman was in critical condition and was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

In the aftermath, Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit, alongside support teams, spent several hours investigating the scene with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service. This thorough examination led to the temporary closure of eastbound lanes on Lougheed Highway between Laity Street and 216th Street, disrupting traffic flow until late morning when the lanes were reopened.
