A tragic incident unfolded in Cornwall, Ont., over the weekend, as authorities reveal that an 81-year-old man carried out a murder-suicide involving his ex-partner and another man.
The devastating event resulted in the deaths of both men, while the 80-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Cornwall’s police Chief Shawna Spowart described the incident as a “deeply tragic situation” involving intimate partner violence.
Responding to a distress call, police arrived at the shooter’s residence just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, discovering three individuals injured at the scene.
The man reportedly shot the woman and her 83-year-old friend before taking his own life. A firearm was recovered by authorities, though no further details about the weapon were disclosed.
