A serious accident occurred on Wednesday on the Sea to Sky Highway between Squamish and Whistler, resulting in one person sustaining critical injuries.
According to BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), four ambulances rushed to the scene near Cheakamus on Highway 99 at approximately 3:20 p.m. The injured individual was urgently transported to the hospital in critical condition, as confirmed by BCEHS.
Social media images depict the aftermath of the crash, showcasing multiple severely damaged vehicles, including a Skylynx bus, and debris scattered across the roadway.
In response to this incident, 1130 NewsRadio has contacted Squamish RCMP for additional details on the collision.
Following the accident, the Sea to Sky Highway was temporarily shut down, but a single lane for alternating traffic was eventually opened at around 6:30 p.m. The authorities fully reopened all lanes by 9 p.m.
