Tragic Accident Claims Life of Woman in Head-On Collision on Vancouver Island
A devastating head-on collision on Vancouver Island’s Highway 1 has resulted in the loss of a woman’s life, according to the Shawnigan Lake RCMP.
The collision took place south of Mill Bay over the weekend when two vehicles crashed into each other head-on.
Authorities reported that the impact caused one vehicle to veer off an embankment, while the other vehicle ignited in flames.
Shawnigan Lake RCMP confirmed that at least four individuals were involved in the collision, leading to the tragic death of one woman at the crash site. The status of the other three occupants remains undisclosed at this time.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and is being supported by the BC Highway Patrol Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (CARS) team.
As a portion of Highway 1 is currently closed in both directions to facilitate emergency response and investigative efforts, the public is advised to avoid the affected area.
Witnesses to the accident are urged to come forward and provide any relevant information to assist the Shawnigan Lake RCMP in their inquiries.
