A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday evening in Mission, resulting in the loss of a pedestrian’s life after being struck by a vehicle. The local RCMP responded to the call on Lougheed Highway at around 7 p.m., following reports of a man being involved in a single-vehicle collision. Despite efforts, the man tragically passed away at the scene.
Authorities have engaged the BC RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) to assist in the ongoing investigation. As a result of the accident, Lougheed Highway had to be shut down between Grand and Wardrop streets for several hours to facilitate the investigation.
The RCMP emphasized that the inquiry is actively underway to ascertain the precise cause of the incident. It was confirmed that impairment on the part of the driver has been ruled out.
