Three individuals have been apprehended in connection with an alleged organized auto theft ring following a successful investigation by Peel police. The investigation, led by Peel police’s commercial auto crime bureau, uncovered a group suspected of stealing vehicles, tractor-trailers, and engaging in auto-related fraudulent activities starting in December.
After diligent work by investigators, a breakthrough was made when officers conducted a search at a residence in Brampton. During the search, authorities discovered three stolen vehicles with counterfeit Ontario license plates, all of which had been reported missing previously.
The trio of suspects, consisting of two men and a woman from Brampton, namely Amritpal Khattra, 28, Gurtas Bhullar, 33, and Mandeep Kaur, 32, have been taken into custody and are now facing a range of charges.
According to a statement released by the police, Khattra and Bhullar are being detained pending a bail hearing, while Mandeep has been released under specific conditions after providing an undertaking.
It was also revealed that at the time of their arrests, Khattra and Bhullar were already subject to court-imposed release orders related to property offenses.
